Orient was founded in 2014 by Dr. James Wu, who brings over two decades of development experience spanning Queens and Manhattan.

Nickolas Kazalas founded NDKazalas Architecture in 2005. His professional qualifications comprise over two decades, contributing to the development and design management of various projects for city and state agencies, colleges and universities and more recently for the private sector. Prior to founding NDKazalas Architecture, Nickolas was an associate with the firm of Herbert Beckhard Frank Richlan + Associates, which was the successor firm to one of the giants of modernism, Marcel Breuer. Nickolas has attained distinct design and detailing sensibilities deeply rooted in the timeless principles of the modernist movement of the early to mid-20th century, and is a firm believer that “good architecture does not come from mindless reinvention, but from skillfully expanding on the foundations and core principles laid down by the masters who preceded us."
